Sony has officially introduced the Sony A7 V, the next-generation model in its iconic A7 lineup that began more than a decade ago. With major upgrades to image processing, autofocus, ergonomics, and shooting speed, the A7 V is emerging as one of the strongest full-frame mirrorless releases of 2026.
At the heart of the camera is a 33MP partially-stacked Exmor RS BSI sensor, supported by Sony’s faster BIONZ XR2 processor and a dedicated AI engine. This combination delivers cleaner low-light performance, faster subject detection, and better predictive autofocus. The ISO range now spans 100–51,200, expandable to 50–204,800, making it highly versatile for low-light photographers.
Smarter Autofocus With Advanced AI Tracking
Sony has been pushing autofocus innovation for years, and the A7 V continues that trend. It features a hybrid focusing system with 759 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection points, enhanced with real-time AI recognition.

High-Speed Shooting: No Blackout + Pre-Capture
Sports and wildlife photographers will appreciate the A7 V’s ability to shoot at up to 30fps with full AF/AE tracking. There’s no electronic viewfinder blackout during bursts, and the new Pre-Capture mode saves up to one second of images before the shutter is pressed, helping you capture split-second moments.
With 7.5 stops of 5-axis IBIS, the camera ensures smooth handheld shooting, even in challenging lighting or while filming.
Video Features: 4K Reliability Over Resolution Race
While Sony hasn’t introduced higher-resolution formats like 6K or 8K this year, the A7 V delivers clean and reliable 4K 60p internal recording, with 4K 120p available in crop mode.

Better Battery Life and Improved Handling
Sony claims up to 630 EVF shots and 750 LCD shots per charge, along with 210 minutes of continuous video recording—an impressive improvement in a market where battery life still matters.
The A7 V features a magnesium-alloy, weather-sealed body weighing 690g, with an improved deeper grip for comfort. Sony has also introduced a new 3.2-inch 4-axis multi-angle touchscreen, giving creators more flexibility when shooting high, low, or vertical content.
The EVF remains a 3.68M-dot OLED, but with a smooth 120fps refresh rate and 0.79x magnification for clearer framing.
